Try the Tables d’hôtes-restaurants (communal table dinning): sit with other people at the long communal table and ask for the salt or for some bread, and the ice is broken!
In cafés and tearooms there are always single people who eat while reading a book or a news paper.

Musées : Certains musées sont ouverts en nocturne : le Louvre les mercredis et vendredis jusqu'à 21h45. Le musée d'Orsay le jeudi jusqu'à 21h45. La Grande Galerie de l'Evolution et le Centre Georges Pompidou le jeudi jusqu'à 22h. Le Palais de Tokyo du mardi au dimanche jusqu’à minuit.
Shopping nocturne : le Printemps, les Galeries Lafayette et le Bon Marché sont ouverts le jeudi jusqu'à 22h. La FNAC Champs-Elysées et le Virgin Megastore sont ouvert tous les jours jusqu'à minuit, de même que la librairie anglophone Shakespeare and Co.

What to do in the evening?
Museums: Many museums are open at night: the Louvre on Wednesdays and Fridays until 9:45pm. The Orsay museum on Thursdays until 9:45pm. The Grande Galerie de l'Evolution and the Pompidou Center on Thursdays until 10pm. The Palais de Tokyo from Tuesday to Sunday until midnight.
Shopping at night: the major Parisian department stores (Printemps, Galeries Lafayette and the Bon Marché) are open until 10pm on Thursdays. On the Champs-Elysées the FNAC (a huge store selling books, CDs, DVDs .. ) and the Virgin Megastore are open everyday until midnight, so is the English bookshop Shakespeare and Co.

Ballet and Opera at the Opera Garnier or Opéra Bastille: tickets are sold at the booth every evening 45mn before the show, but you must be there at least an hour and a half in advance to get tickets.
